Background of the Study
The rapid growth of digital education tools has significantly transformed the landscape of learning in secondary schools. Virtual classrooms, which became more prominent during the COVID-19 pandemic, have continued to play a crucial role in providing flexible and accessible learning experiences. However, one of the key challenges faced by virtual classrooms is ensuring sustained student engagement. In Sokoto North Local Government Area, Sokoto State, many students struggle with low participation and motivation in virtual learning environments, leading to suboptimal academic outcomes.
AI-based student engagement systems offer a promising solution to enhance interaction and participation in virtual classrooms. By integrating AI, these systems can personalize the learning experience for students, provide real-time feedback, adapt content according to individual needs, and offer interactive learning activities. AI tools can analyze student behavior, identify engagement patterns, and recommend strategies to improve student interaction. This can help in fostering a more dynamic learning environment, ultimately improving the effectiveness of virtual classrooms.
Statement of the Problem
Secondary schools in Sokoto North Local Government Area are facing challenges in maintaining high levels of student engagement in virtual classrooms. The lack of interactivity and personalized content is leading to decreased participation, which in turn affects students’ academic performance.
